Q6. Is Aliexpress the best place to get products for dropshipping?

Hi I’m Matt Edmundson and in today’s video we are answering the question ‘is Aliexpress the best place to get products for dropshipping?’ It’s not a straight yes or no answer.

AliExpress is an eCommerce website based in China. It allows international shoppers to purchase items from wholesale retailers. It buys direct from manufacturers and sells a variety of products worldwide. A lot of people around the world are doing this making reasonable cash.

I think there is a there is a better way to think about this. You will be setting yourself up for failure if you simply choose a few products on Aliexpress that are cheap and set up a dropshipping business. The better way to do this would be to first consider these two vital steps:

1 - Research Your Product

If you are going to be successful in the world of eCommerce, you need to find a product that you are interested in - one that you either know a lot about or have a passion for. Once you’ve decided on a product THEN you can ask… ‘Does Aliexpress sell that?’ Don’t simply go on Aliexpress and pick the first thing that looks half-decent. You won’t gain a successful eCommerce business by doing that.

2 - Research AliExpress and Other Suppliers

Once you have decided on a product to sell, you need to ask a few practical questions - do you think Aliexpress is the best place to source that product? Will it give you a good service? Will it get you repeat business? You don’t want to be constantly sitting with various backorders from customers waiting for you to get your Aliexpress shipment in. Check the shipping time, check quantities, check the product before over-stocking.

Aliexpress isn’t the only supplier out there. Make sure you research three - four suppliers before choosing one. Ask the same questions to all of your suppliers, test out the products and delivery time - you may find that you prefer one company over Aliexpress simply due to better customer service. If you are going to have a successful eCommerce business, you need to be able to trust your suppliers. If they let you down, you will disappoint your customers. Take your time over this decision.
